Life & Hope (LHA)

Sustainable Community Project

lhalogoLHA is a non profit, non government and non political organisation. It was founded in 2005 by the monks of Watt Damnak and friends.

The Sustainable Community Project, formerly named “Food for Education project”, began in 2005 and was the first initiative of LHA.

Being aware that many families were poor and could not afford to send children to school, LHA started providing them with rice, uniforms and school supplies. Currently, there are 160 families supported by this program.

The project is now expanding and will include agricultural training for the families so they can grow vegetables around their homes, and a Sewing/Craft shelter where the women of the Commune can learn sewing, weaving and other skills. This will enable them to make and repair clothes, and create a cottage industry.

RFC fund these initiatives and the shelter will be built with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Kerang Victoria.

Latest Updates

Green Gecko's first haul of fish from their fish farm was enough to feed 32 families.

The Sustainable Community Project will bring agricultural skills to the families and sewing and craft skills to the women.
